The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
is recognized as the lead federal agency for protecting the health and safety of people - at home and abroad, providing credible information to enhance health decisions, and promoting health through strong partnerships. CDC serves as the national focus for developing and applying disease prevention and control, environmental health, and health promotion and education activities designed to improve the health of the people of the United States. CDC, located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, is an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services. This is the first Entomology website in the world, and went into operation on 27 February 1994. The Department of Bioagricultural Sciences and Pest Management at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado, offers graduate programs leading to master of science and doctor of philosophy degrees in Entomology. The department also cooperates in offering undergraduate concentrations in entomology and plant protection under the Bioagricultural Science major, and also offers a minor in entomology. The department provides well-equipped laboratories and a large insect collection at the C. P. Gillette Museum of Arthropod Biodiversity.

The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)
The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) has served the tree care industry for over seventy years as a scientific and educational organization. ISA was founded in 1924 when a group of forty individuals, each engaged in a phase of tree work or research, were called together by the Connecticut Tree Protection Examining Board to discuss shade tree problems and their possible solutions. ISA is a dynamic medium through which arborists around the world share their experience and knowledge for the benefit of society. ISA, aligned on many fronts with other green organizations, is working hard to foster a better understanding of trees and tree care through research and the education of professionals as well as global efforts to inform tree care consumers.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service is a Federal agency that manages public lands in national forests and grasslands. The Forest Service is also the largest forestry research organization in the world, and provides technical and financial assistance to State and private forestry agencies. Gifford Pinchot , the first Chief of the Forest Service, summed up the mission of the Forest Service—"to provide the greatest amount of good for the greatest amount of people in the long run."

The American Lyme Disease Foundation, Inc. is a pro-active organization dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and control of Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections. The Foundation supports critical scientific research and plays a key role in providing reliable and scientifically accurate information to the public, medical community and government agencies about tick-borne diseases and their potentially serious effects on our health and quality of life.

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) had its origins in the earliest days of the Public Health Service. In 1948, the Rocky Mountain Laboratory and the Biologics Control Laboratory, both dating to 1902, joined the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Division of Tropical Diseases of the National Institutes of Health to form the National Microbiological Institute. Six years later, Congress gave the Institute its present name to reflect the inclusion of allergy and immunology research. Today, NIAID provides the major support for scientists conducting research aimed at developing better ways to diagnose, treat and prevent the many infectious, immunologic and allergic diseases that afflict people worldwide.

The American Academy of Family Physicians
The American Academy of Family Physicians is the national association of family doctors. It is one of the largest national medical organizations, with more than 93,100 members in 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam. Until October 3, 1971, it was known as the American Academy of General Practice. The name was changed in order to reflect more accurately the changing nature of primary health care.

World Health Organization
The WHO Policy information retrieval system provides access to WHO policies and related documents, such as the Basic Documents of the Organization (e.g. the WHO constitution), documents presented in sessions of the Executive Board (since the ninety-seventh session) and the Health Assembly (since the Forty-ninth World Health Assembly), resolutions and decisions since the very first meetings, official records of the Board and the Assembly, the program budget, resolutions and decisions of Regional Committees and selected booklets of the Health for All series. The system also provides access to internal documents. It is a full text retrieval system allowing the user to browse and search documents stores in various repositories of information.

New England Journal of Medicine
The premier medical journal for all manner of health related information. Although this is a subscription site, articles that appear in the NEJM are available for free six months after their publication.
